Baby Daddy
Just when you thought your small Tennessee town couldn't get any lamer, you get news that knocks your socks off. News that could change the face of your sleepy, little town. News that could bring the
Paparazzi. That's right, folks, Jamie Lynn Spears (Brit's 16-year-old sister) is knocked up. What does this have to do with Cleveland, Tennessee you ask? Well, it turns out that the Baby Daddy works at a paper mill here in town.
Why does this please me so? I guess the prospect of seeing my little town on the pages of In Touch Weekly excites me more than I care to admit. I can just see the new welcome signs on the edges of town:
Welcome to Cleveland, Tennessee: Home of Britney Spear's sister's Baby Daddy.
The tourism industry is bound to explode.
***CORRECTION: My friend Alyson has informed me that The Baby Daddy's Father lives in Cleveland, TN; not the Baby Daddy himself. Bummer. I guess the sign would actually read:
Welcome to Cleveland, Tennessee: Home of Britney Spear's sister's Baby Daddy's Daddy.
Not quite as good, but I'll take it.

Wow! I'm just a few miles up the road and a child of said 'paper mill'--well in the sense that my Daddy retired from there and I still do all my banking with the credit union. lol
As the mom of 5, 3 of whom are teenagers I shouldn't really be shocked by this announcement, but I am. All I really have to do is look around at my own children's High School's to know it's a very real problem.

Scary this. All I can do is shake my head and pray that I'll figure out how to get through to MY kids when they're sixteen. So darn SAD!!

Aah and to think maybe if you lurked around enough you could have ended up on the cover as a bystander:)
I couldn't believe this when I heard it.
I have to say I was very shocked at Zoey 101.

So who is this future grandpa to the Spears kid? What mill does he work at?

I am barely aware of B. Spears, but your take on celebrity worship gave me
a chuckle. We have friends in Joplin, MO, who talk about which teachers taught Brad Pitt's MOTHER in the schools! Go small town America: everyone has to come from somewhere.

Shannon-
Howdy neighbor. Yes, it is a very real problem. I'm making light of it but I think it is absurd that this girl, with all of her resources and life lessons from her sister, is pregnant.
Who's going to buy this parenting book Lynn Spears is writing? Please.

Leanne-
Agreed. It's tragic.

Maribeth-
That's the little fantasy I have in my head :)

Terry-
I'm pretty sure he works at Bowater. As far as his identity goes, I'm sure it will reveal itself with time (or my stalking ;).

Will's Nana-
I'm ashamed at how aware I am of the daily goings on of Brit and crew. Celebrity gossip is my guilty pleasure.
Funny about Brad Pitt's mom. I'm sure I'd be right there with them!

Anyone care to nominate Lynn Spears as the worst mom ever?!
So ridiculous!
Sorry about your town's short lived fame. ;)

This is so sad, it's almost tragic! So stupidity does run in some families? Now I have to go and write a whole new chapter.

Does this grandpa-to-be share his grandson's last name? If so, I think I know who he is.
Posted by: terry | December 20, 2007 at 05:23 PM
Sorry! I mean to say: does this grandpa share the same last name as his *son*?

Julianne--
Greetings to you neighbor :) Been reading your blog for a month or so now but this was my first comment! Kind of cool to run into someone so close by.
As for the parenting book by Mrs. Spears, I had little expectation before the news of this impending pregnancy. I always felt like that whole family made such a production out of how 'wholesome' Brittney was years back that something had to be "up"! And well, I guess we were right, huh? lol I'm sure it must be difficult parenting a 'child star' but I've noticed the self-righteous seem to make the most noise when they fall off their pedestal.

LOL! Well, at least one Spears sister is a goody two sh.....Oops, not anymore.
Blessings,

It is probably not going to matter for Tennessee. They will probably all move in with Brittany.
